Jackie Guerrido, television weatherperson and journalist, was born on September 24, 1970, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and she grew-up at the island’s capital of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Soon after finishing her graduation from high school she migrated with her family to Bronx, New York. She had dreamt of being an actress since childhood. To fullfill her dream Jackie Guerrido went to a lot of auditions and got some roles early in her life. Her career started with modeling of clothes and beverages in TV commercials and print media.
In addition to modeling in commercials of various products, Guerrido also worked as a voice-over artist. It happened to be that a local radio producer heard her voice over the airwaves, and liked what he heard enough to hire the up-and-coming broadcaster for a morning program “El Vacilon de la Manana” means (Goofing Around in the Morning). It was featured on radio through “Mega 97.9” FM and soon became one of the top-rated programs in the New York City area.
Soon after her debut on radio she received an offer to be an announcer from the Spanish Broadcasting Corporation “Romance 106.7” FM in Miami which was warmly accepted by Guerrido, subsequently she settled down in Miami. Jackie Guerridodid worked as an announcer for approximately one year. After that she was hired by the no-1 Spanish-language radio network named Hispanic Broadcasting Company (H.B.C.), where she had to broadcast the traffic reports and read the news for their top-rated morning program. Guerrido was given her own music-oriented morning program on Salsa 98.3 FM, immediately after starting with H.B.C.
Her debut in television was as a traffic reporter for Telemundo’s Channel 51, which happened just after she started to host her own radio program at “Salsa 98.3 FM”. At this time she was working for both television and radio.
In spite of inexperience as a weatherperson, Univision offered Guerrido the job of a weathergirl on their TV show Al Amanacer de Noticias 23 (“Morning News at Channel 23”). As Guerrido was entirely oblivious of what her job is, she started taking course in meteorology at the University of Florida to fulfill anticipated requirements of the job. Gurrido was widely appreciated by viewers for her weather presentation skills.
At present Guerrido is the weathergirl for Despierta America (“Wake up America”), which is one of the most highly rated and popular television programs among the Hispanic community in the United States of America, she is also co-host of another weather reporting program on Primer Impacto (“First Impact”) with Barbara Bermudo.
Jackie is divorced and has two children, Thomas aged 13 and Adiney 15. Guerrido married again on April 19, 2008 with Don Omar in Puerto Rico, a reggaeton singer.
She has done journalism from the University of Florida. In 2004, Guerrido has the honor to be the “Good Will Ambassador” of Puerto Rico at the Puerto Rican Day Parade celebrated in New York City. Her ambition is to do her own TV shows and act in movies, she says “I’ll do whatever comes to me as long as I am ready at that time”. She feels proud when she is called sexy, she says, it seems to me as a sign of respect and I’m liked ‘Really’.
